Troop 49 is a Christian troop. We welcome any boy who wishes to become involved in Boy Scouts, yet we reserve the privilege to emphasize Jesus Christ as the central focus of our troop, and the Bible as our final authority.

Survival Strategies Seminar

On February 2nd, 2009, the Lewis and Clark District had the privilege of hosting a survival seminar by Peter Kummerfeldt. Peter is a highly regarded survival speaker with over 30 years of experience teaching survival techniques in the US Air Force. He retired and started his own company to inform the public about outdoor survival called Outdoorsafe. To find out more about Peter please go to his website at: Outdoorsafe.com. Some of the topics for the evening will included:

  • Preparing for survival outdoors before you leave.
  • The “Essentials” that you should always have when going outdoors.
  • Techniques in building shelters, finding drinking water and fire building.
  • Signaling for help.
  • Survival myths.
